As much as I love my high end makeup, there are so many great products that are much more affordable and just as good. It’s easy to get caught up in buying the newest, hottest item at Sephora, but not everyone can afford to constantly be splurging on expensive items (*cough* me). The drugstore is a gold mine for great makeup, you just have to know where to look!
I have more favorites than just in this post, but I didn’t want to do too many at once. So, without further ado, here are some of my favorite picks for best makeup picks at the drugstore!
1. Colourpop Super Shock Shadows
These guys are about 5 bucks a pop and they are crazy pigmented. They’re not really a cream or a powder, they have almost a spongey consistency – when you push your finger into one it leaves a little indent. One swipe over the eyelid is plenty for good color payoff. And while these aren’t necessarily something you can pick up at the store, the Colourpop website has lots of great quality things for an affordable price.
2. Wet n’ Wild Catsuit Liquid Lipsticks
Words cannot describe how incredible these are. If you’re a liquid lipstick junkie like me you definitely need to try these. They’re opaque yet comfortable on the lips, and they last literally all day. They remind me a lot of the Smashbox Always On liquid lippies that I also love, but these are about a third of the price. I just wish they had more colors!
3. Essence Rock n’ Doll Crazy XXXL Volume Mascara
The bristles on the brush of this mascara are a little sharp so be careful! But that aside, this is a great lengthening and separating mascara. Despite the name, I find this to be better for length than volume. It only requires a coat or two to get nice, separated lashes. Think Maybelline Full n’ Soft type of look!
4. Nyx Dark Circle Concealer Correcter
I literally have the world’s worst dark circles and a light layer of this underneath my concealer completely erases them. ‘Nuff said.
5. Milani Make It Last Setting Spray
A light spritz of this over the face after I’ve done my makeup actually does, as the name would suggest, make it last. It also helps to keep the oils I occasionally get on my forehead after a long, hot day at bay. The mister is super fine which I love.
6. Maybelline Master Conceal
Guys. This is so underrated and so good. You only need a tiny little bit underneath your eyes and BAM, say goodbye to those dark circles. I’ve always wondered why people don’t talk more about this product. It gives a matte finish but isn’t at all drying, and has very full coverage.
7. Wet n’ Wild Photofocus Foundation and Lash Primer
If you haven’t hopped on the Wet n’ Wild Photofocus bandwagon, you’re missing out. I really love this whole line, but the foundation and lash primer are two of my favorites. The foundation has been raved about for a reason! It comes in a glass bottle, which is impressive for a $5/$6 foundation. The coverage is medium to full, and has a nice matte finish. It works really nicely on my dry skin (though I’ve heard it works great for oily-skinned people as well). It’s comparable to some of my higher end foundations and it’s a total steal, so definitely get your hands on it! The lash primer gives my lashes an extra bit of volume underneath even my most volumizing mascaras.
8. Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Primer
I love this brand and all their quirky names. This primer is mattifying without being drying and my foundation applies smoothly on top of it. It fills in my pores really nicely, too!
9. Jordana Sweet Cream Matte Liquid Lipstick
If you love a budge-proof, transfer-resistant liquid lipstick, this is for you. The consistency is thin but opaque, and the colors aren’t streaky. I like to lay down a layer of lip balm underneath as a lip primer because I have creasy lips that this can emphasize, but once I do that I’m good to go all day. You can even layer a lip gloss over it and it won’t flake off or smudge underneath.
And those are some of my favorite at the drugstore! What are your best drugstore finds?
